SWATCH-FIVB Series - St. Petersburg Open-2005 - will become an affiliate of the famous Brazilian Copa Cabana beach for the next weekend of July, 9-10.
Anyway, it's high time we called the women's final Brazilian Open since the final four is made up of all Brazilian tandems, the brightest stars of world beach volleyball headed by the Olympic and World champion, the legendary Sandra Pires. It is most likely that the men's final will also be held under the Brazilian flag led by current world toppers Emanuel Rego and Ricardo Santos as well as by Marcio Araujo and Fabio Magalhaes. The best Russian team Roman Arkaev/Dmitry Barsouk also do their best to reach the final game. But the World Series event -- St.-Petersburg Open-2005 - is not only a great opportunity to watch famous masters of beach volley but also a unique chance to spend the weekend on the Neva shores in St. Petersburg. Moreover, the weather favours both players and spectators: this weekend St. Petersburg will see hot sunny weather +26 C. And those who will come to the tournament will see a well-equipped beach, huge entertainment complex, children's playground, numerous outdoor cafes.. and of course, a breath-taking panorama of the Neva, Hermitage, the Vassilievsky Island Spit. Tournament's guests and participants confirm that the organizers managed create a festive atmosphere characteristic of tours in Shanghai, Athens, Montreal and Acapulco, Santa Monica and Copa Cabana. But hardly have they seen before such fantastic scenery. Moreover, the organizers prepared a special present for the winners: in compliance with the Peter-and-Paul Fortress administration, on Sunday the winners will be granted an honourable right to perform a traditional noon shot. We remind you that women's winners and medalists will be defined on July 09, after 4 p.m. First, women's teams will fight for the bronze medal and in an hour they will play the final game.š An on Sunday men's teams will play in decisive final games at 2 p.m. (for the bronze medal) and 3 p.m. Dear St. Petersburg residents and guests! Don't miss your chance! On Monday the 'caravan' of beach volley players willš move to another World Series stop in Portugal, Poland and other countries according to the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour agenda. And the great game will come back to St. Petersburg only next year.
